Jon Bon Jovi is the frontman and namesake of Bon Jovi.

Born John Francis Bongiovi on March 2nd 1962, he is commonly acknowledged as one of the greatest rock stars of the 1980s. As well as being a very good vocalist he is also a competant guitarist, pianist, harmonica player and percussionist. He's been well known for the past 20 years for his versatile vocal tones and his stage presence.

In the very early 1980s he worked as a janitor at The Power Station studios, where he also recorded demos with session musicians (later released as 'John Bongiovi: The Power Station Years') and would eventually record Bon Jovi's debut album.

In 1989 he married Dorothea Hurley, and they remain together to this day.

In 1990 Jon released his first solo album, actually a soundtrack to Young Guns II, called 'Blaze Of Glory'. The album spawned two hit singles Blaze Of Glory (Number one in the US) and Miracle (Number twelve in the US), and featured guest stars Elton John, Little Richard and Jeff Beck.

In 1997 Jon released another solo album, 'Destination Anywhere' that was less succesful than his solo debut. It was succesful in the UK (Hitting the number one spot in June 1997), but the people in the US failed to get it. The three singles were also succesful in the UK, but not the US, namely Midnight In Chelsea.

Jon did a promotional tour for the album, with his solo backing band The Big Dogs (featuring Hugh MacDonald, Bon Jovi bassist, on bass and Bobby Bandiera, Bon Jovi touring rythm guitarist, on guitar.)

Jon still occasionally does one off solo gigs, but he mostly sticks to the band these days.
